Dr Sir — By advice of Ex Lieut Gov Fisk I wrote J. B. Temple, Chairman Military Comn, regarding a position in some Ky Cavalry Co- enclosing some Letters of recommendation- He replied he would put my application on file and see what could be done for me — Since that time Mr Temple has resigned and Frankfort evacuated by the State authorities, can you inform what has become of my Letters- If you can find them and can do nothing for me you will confer a favor by returning them by first mail

Mail as I do not wish to lose them- If however you think I would be of any service to you upon the terms therein proposed I am still at your service the same as when that Letter was written but I would like to hear from you soon
