To His Excellency
Jas F Robinson
Governor of the Commonwealth
of Ky
Sir
I have been this day called upon by Mrs Brafford the Mother of Lafayette Brafford who is now confined in the State Penitentiary to State what I know of him, when a small boy he was employed by me and continued in my employment until he was some fourteen years old since which time I have not known much of him
During his continuance in my employment he was a good orderly boy he has a wife and children who depend upon him for support and I have no doubt from the Testimony I heard on his trial the Offence was Committed under the influence of liquor And that he was not accustomed to so indulge And if Consistent with your public duties would ask you to reprieve him & Send him to his family
Your obt Servant
