The undersigned would respectfully State, that it is represented to us that there are at this time sixty five (65) reenlisted men formerly belonging to the thirteenth (13") Ky Regt now on detatched duty at Barracks No 1 Louisville Ky, the number Entitles them to a captain and as your Excellency will most likely be called on to appoint a corps of commanderofficirs for them, We take pleasure in recommending our young County man Serg W. W. Rowlett for the office of Captain, this young man was one of the first to volunteer at Camp Joe Holt, and was transferred from Gen Rousseaus Comnd to the 2nd Ky Cav and was present and participated in the battles of Chilo — Stone River, Perryville Chickamauga., also in series of battles resulting in the Capture Atlanta, and reenlisted in
Sergt Rowlett has for some months been on detached duty
at Louisville Ky — We know him to be eminently qualified to take Command of a Company not only from his Experience in the army on the field, but also from his education and high moral qualities
