Scott County, Kentucky, farmer and shorthorn cattle breeder. Paynes Depot, Kentucky, native. Son of Willa Viley and Lydia Smith Viley. Married to Mary Louisa Peak Nuckols Viley. Father of Annie Viley, Lydia Viley, Sallie Viley, Leland Viley, and Willa Viley. Cadet at the Western Military Institute in Georgetown, Kentucky, in 1849. Farmer in Scott County in 1860. Owned seventeen enslaved persons in 1860.
