Henry County and Owen County, Kentucky, physician and soldier. Henry County, Kentucky, native. Son of Caleb Mathews and Frances Mathews. Resident of Henry County, Kentucky in 1850. Physician in Owen County in 1860. Served in the 7th Kentucky Battalion Mounted Infantry (C.S.A.) as a surgeon from June 1864.
