Married to Julia Ann Smith Gwin in Scott County, Kentucky, on October 27, 1853. Merchant in Franklin County in 1850. Owned four enslaved persons in Franklin County in 1850. Mayor of Frankfort from 1857 to 1865. Merchant in Frankfort in 1860. Owned one enslaved person in Frankfort in 1860. Justice of the peace in Franklin County from 1861 to 1865. Member of the Frankfort City Council in 1865.
