To His Excellency James F Robinson
Govenror of Kentucky
Your petitioner William Turner, a free Man of Color, would respectfully represent to your Excellency that on the [...] day of lor. His Honor Judge Graham upon the hearing of the proof in the case assessed a fine of fifty dollars against your petitioner.
Your petitioner would further represent that previous to and since the commission of the said offense he has conducted himself in a peaceable & orderly manner, & now respectfully asks that your Excellency will Exercise Executive Clemency towards him, & remit So Much of said fine as is not due & coming to the officers, —
Your petitioner would further represent that said fine has been respited for twelve months by his Excellency
Governor Magoffin, late Governor of Ky with a promise that he would remit it entirely in due time, which "Respite" is hereby exhibited to your Excellency —
Your Petitioner would further represent that his character has been and now is that of an honest and law abiding citizen inhabitant of Frankfort — He asks a remittal of this fine ^at the time^ out of a sense of Gratitutde to the gentlemen who went on his hand —
