Hawkins Tate in Woodford County, Kentucky, on June 3, 1856. Father of Howard S. Tate and Edmonia Tate. Clerk of the U.S. Post Office in Frankfort, Franklin County, in 1848. Farmer in Franklin County in 1850. Assistant secretary of state of the Commonwealth of Kentucky from 1854 to 1855 and from 1859 to 1863. Owned two enslaved persons in Frankfort in 1860. Assistant clerk of the House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Kentucky from 1865 to 1867.
