Permit me to recommend to you Lt. Col. Gwynne of the 4^th. Ky Cavalry as a suitable person for the Colonelcy of the 5^th. Ky. Cav. made vacant by the death of its former Col. (Sanders).

Lt. Col. Gwynne by his faithful and gallant services has clearly shown himself worthy and qualified for the position and I hope he may be commissioned.

I am satisfied that his promotion would give satisfaction to the 5^th, and greatly add to its efficiency.
