I have the honor to recommend M^r John Spaulding, formerly Cap^t. of Co "G" 15^th Reg^t. Ky Vol Inf, to you as a deserving applicant for a position as secret policeman or detective. Cap^t S. has during the time he was connected with the 15^th Ky shown himself to be a trusty & efficient officer, and was compelled to resign on account of an injury received while in service. His wound is sufficiently well to permit him to perform the above service, but hinders him from becoming a veteran.
