Dear Sir,

This letter will be handed you by Lt G M Smith, Regimental Quarter Master of the 13^th Ky Inftry. (my old Regt) Lt Smith desires your influence to obtain the position of a Regular Assistant Quarter Mastership. I have known him as an officer and a gentlman, since the War commenced, and cheerfully, reccommend him as worthy the position he aspires. he has been serving as such in the Cavalry Corps for the last six months.

Any kindness shown the Lt will place me under obligation.
