I have the honor to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of the 9'th instant requesting permission to re-commission George W. Sweeney, late Captain 1'st regiment Kentucky Cavalry.

In reply, I am directed to inform you that he was discharged by Special Orders No. 86, series of 1862, from this office upon an adverse report of an Examining Board, convened under Section 10, Act July 22'^d, 1863, and the disability cannot be removed.
