Sir feeling it my duty to inform you of the condition of our company I know no other method than by my pen I was Enlisted in Cap^t Barbers Company on the 17^th day of March laste and have not recieved one dollar of pay yet — ,, we have neither armes nor amunition to defend our selves with. One of our men was killed on laste thursday near Camargo in M^t gomry County By the Garrillars —. I think it is by neglect of our officers that we are kept in this Condition= will you at once furnish us with armes and amunition and horses and then we may Succeed in routing the garrellars from our midst it was on their account that I Enlisted in this Company I could not Stay home as I had Served three years in the 24^th Ky. Inf^t ,, Will you Either have us musterd out or furnish us with Some thing to fight with,, But the Conservatives want us removed form their midst
will you pardon my hasty written letter and if it can be conveniently don have Something done for us as we are all poor men and can not Support our families by Staying in the Service with out pay and we have all come to the conclusion that we will never be paid for our Services

with these Remarks I leave it to your own Consultation Believeing that you will at once do something for us I I am Sir your
