Indictment for a Misdemeanor

This day came the attorney for the Commonwealth and the defendant by this attorney who plead not guilty and thereupon came the following Jury to wit. G A Kirby James F Ewing, Calvin A Garrison Joseph Fallon S S Johnson Robert Graham Henry Vance H B Elrod Wm Davenport Wm H Kinnard V K Hines and H J Neighbors who were elected tried and sworn and having heard the evidence returned the following verdict to wit — We of the Jury find the defendant A Trigg guilty of permitting each of his Slaves Jerry and Beverly to go at large and hire themselves out for their own benefit as charged in this Indictment — C A Garrison Foreman — It is therefore adjudged by the Court that the defendant make his fine to the Commonwealth by the payment of Eighty Dollars and the cost herein and may be taken &c.
