I am not personally acquainted with Mr Grant, but know from the representations made to me by his uncle Jno A M^cAllister of Philad^a (with whom I am well acquainted) that he is an honorable & high minded gentleman For myself I can refer to my brother in law James Speed Esq of this city

If the request be granted. the papers addressed to my care will reach their destination & I will at once. on knowledge of the amount remit the proper fees
