Your Petitioners State that at the last October Term of the Grant Circuit Court, that there was a Judgement rendered agst them for a fine of Twenty Dollars and costs, for Gameing on the premises of others. They Say that They were only playing a small game. of Poker for amusement, merely betting enough to keep the game. ~~anddidnot~~. and did not suppose They were Violating and did not intend to violate law. They say that they are Poor men, and illy able to pay said fine, that They are married men and Fathers of large Families, dependant Solely, upon them for Support— that they meet with one or two of their Neighbor,s and engaged in the game merely to while away the tedium of the night. last Spring. therefore as they intended to do no wrong and set no bad example to the Young. and ~~are~~is really to poor to pay the fine without Serious grievance to their Families. They pray Your Honor to Remit. and acquit them from the payment of the same—
