We, the undersigned citizens of Louisville, have heard of the conviction of Henry Byerback, of the charge of "malicious stabbing with intent to Kill," & are satisfied that it would be but an act of justice and clemency on the part of your Excellency to pardon him, and give him his liberty. He is the only son of aged parents; his father is almost blind, & his mother, burdened with many years- He is only twenty three years of age- and has, through his short career, been an industrious, quiet, hard working, law abiding youth, and will, it is believed, if pardoned, be an honest, loyal citizen- He served in the armies of his country, until called home by domestic duties he could not disregard. It is therefore our earnest request that he be pardoned & saved from the disgrace of confinement in the Penitentiary --
