Father tells me this morning that he had suggested to you that you would lay my name before the house in connexion with his & Mr Pillsburry's. I thought I would write you a line or two, giveing you Some facts, which you might urge in behalf of my case. If you remember, the President issued a proclamation shortly after the evacuation of Bowling Green by the Rebels, inviting all who might be under arms in rebellion to return to their allegiance in Sixty days.

I availed myself of said proclamation, haveing had nothing to do whatever with said rebellion, after about the 1^st of March 1862, though I did not come to Kentucky untill about the 10^th of June thereafter, However I have been insides of the Federal lines, Since the 1^st of April 1862, I have (as you probably know) taken the Oath, given bond, as required under said proclamation, and now I find I am idicted in the Civil Courts, for "Treason " Conspericy" &c, when I thought in availing myself of the President's clemency and returning to my allegiance, I was there released in full, And I hope the Clemency of the Legislature will relieve me. If the Legislature is so pressed with buisiness, that she can't act. will you be so kind as to lay my case before the Governor, and ask for a respite untill the ^next^ session, I could send a petition if it was necessary, but hope your statements &c, will suffice, Your attention to the above will greatly oblige

PS. Father says, if you succeed either before the Legislature, or in obtaing a respite, that you bring such papers home with you, when you come.
