To His Excellency Thos E Bramlette

your petitioner Peter Smith (a free man of Color) would respectfully represent that on the 6^th day of ~~Jany~~Feby 1864 he was fined ^in the Police court of Frankfort Ky^ the sum of $5- for having in his possession a pair of pistols, that said pistols were held by him as security for Money loaned by him to one Capt Alexander of the 7th Ky Cavalry, wherefore he prays that your Excellency will exercise Executive Clemency towards him, and remit so much of said fine as is not due the officers
