Dear James

From information obtained from the Clerk of the Casey Court it turns out that instead of a bond of $2400 which the Gov^r remitted for Osburn, Bates & others the cases stand as follows on recognizances not on bonds

~~Commonwealth vs Wood Osburn & others~~= Mitchell ^1^ Bates principal. Thomas ^2^ Bates, John ^3^ Osburn, David ^4^ Osburn John ~~Fletcher~~ ^5^ Fulcher & Achilles ^6^ Evans surities recognizances for $200 and three cases.

Let your remission cover three forfeited recognizances ^of 200$ each^ against the above six persons done at November term of the Casey Circuit Court -- ~~then~~ stating Michell Bates as principal & others as sureties

One other remission covering Three forfeited recognizances of 200$ each taken at same term & court against the same six- except that Wood Osburn is principal isntead of Mitchell Bates.

I would have you make out these four remissions of three in each [...] All filled up and ask the Governor to sign & then mail them to me at once as the court is close at hand

You observe it all amounts to 2400$ but not in the shape I had supposed & the remission sent will not do as there is a fatal misdescription

Pardon the miserable pen & material that I am compelled to use this morning.
