To His Excellency Thomas E Bramlett The Governor of the State of Kentucky:

Your Petitioner the undersigned would respectfully Show to Your Excellency: That He has been for many years the Keeper of a Public House in the City of Louisville: and has always deported himself as a good and true law abiding citizens: That on the [ ] day of 1863, contrary to all custom in his house; and without his knowledge or consent, and in his absence; some one in his Employ let some young men who are said to be "Minors" have some liquor: persons having unkind feelings to your petitioner, sezid the opportunity; to Indict your petitioner in the City Court of Louisville, and on the 2^nd day of November 1863. He was fined the sum of $50.00 & costs Your Petitioner was induced to make no defence; He states that He will be compelled to pay the costs which is a very great hardship He has a large family to support: and is poor: and not able to pay the fine: at the time of the trial He was told to rely on the Mercy & clemency of the Executive; and He now prays your Excellency to interpose, your Executive clemency and to remit, to him the above fine: and will ever humbly pray &c

The appearance & age of the witnesses, ~~tha~~ who drank in the house of Mr. Henneberger is such as to induce the belief that they are of Lawful age. Mr Henneberger admitted the selling and said that, he did not know, but ~~what~~ that, they were of age

I concur in the above statement. Have known Petitioner for several years, he is a verry quiet clever man & so far as I know and believe he has kept an orderly well conducted drinking House
