State of Kentucky Clark County Sct

James E. Neil state that in the Year 1859, he was keeping a Tavern in Goodes Precinct in Clark County Ky, and that in the Christmas holidays of 1859, he had a party at his Tavern at which the Young folks of the neighborhood attended for Dancing & recreation. That ~~among~~ some of the Young men who was present, retired from the Tavern House ^at a late hour of night^ where the Festivities were being held and went into a plank Stable some 75 yards from the Tavern house and played Cards; and at which game money was won & lost ^as this affiant has since been informed^ and which occurred without the slightest knowledge of this affiant, who was engaged in waiting on the company. This affiant begs to inform His Excellency the Governor of Ky that ~~said~~ the fine imposed on him in the Circuit Court was respited several years since, and he now asks that the same may be finally released. That he
has long since paid the fees of the Commonwealths attorney & the costs of the prosecution Your petitioner claims to be a law abiding citizen & respectfully refers to the letters accompanying

is very appressive on him. He is poor & has to struggle for a bare living & is in many respects a clever fellow & usefull to his friends & is a loyal man
