To His Excellency Gov. Bramlette

Your Petitioner Robt. Bird says that he was fined during the present august Term of the whitly Circt Court the sum of $75. for failure to procure & fix up in his tavern a copy of the Tavern rates, — He states that he omitted this duty simply because he did not know that the law required it of him, he had no intention of violating any law; he says that no real injury has been done to the public or to any individual by this omission, it is a very heavy penalty. he is a poor man, and prays that your Excellency will remit the fine

Your Petitioner Wiley Elmore says that he was fined $20. during the present Term of the Whitley Circut Court ^for^ acting as clerk or agent of Robt Bird ^~~without being swo~~^ who was tavern keeper in Whitly — without being first sworn according to law — He says that he violated the law innocently,, that as Bird had a license to keep a Tavern he supposed that he could attend to the bar for said Bird without any violation of law —

As the offence was inocently commited & as no injury has resulted therefrom, and as he is only a youth he prays the fine be remitted —
