Thomas. E. Bramlett

Your Petitioners would respectfully represent that George Williams a citizen of the County of Grant was indicted in the Grant Circuit Court for assault and battery and was at the [ ] Term of Said Court fined the Sum of $75 — — we would further represent that Said Williams is a verry old man and a verry poor One, not able to make His fine to the Commonwealth without great pecuniary embarrassment to Him, He has Served His Country well both in the war of 1812 and this present war, He was a Soldier in the 18^th Ky Vol Inft, and descharged His duty faithfully until He was descharged in consequence of His ~~great age~~ advanced age and disability — We believe in consideration of the above Circumstance His fine Should be remitted, we therefore hope Your Excellancy will favorably Consider this Petition and we will ever pray &., &, &

I have known the above named George Williams ^for some years:^ he is an old man a soldier of the war of 1812, he is decriped & I think wholly incapable of haveing committed such an assault as he has been charged with — He is poor & wholly unable to pay his fine. I pray it to be remitted
