You are aware there is a Mr Smith, now in our jail condemn'd to be executed on the 3^rd of February unless your excellency will grant him another month to prepare to meet his God. May I ask in his behalf, that you will grant him another Short month, to prepare himself for that awful hour. He seems truely penitent, but still feels that he is unprepared it seems to be the desire of the citizens generally, that he Should have longer time for preperations he says if he could feel himself prepared to die, he would not dread the death he has to die, grant this last appeal of a poor dying fellow creature, and I,
am Sure when your earthly career is ended you will not regret haveing done so.

he has a Wife mother and five helpless little children. and he himself a poor ignorant man.
