To the Gov of Kentucky your petitioner H C Hancock of ^allen^ County Kentucky would beg leave to State that Sometime in the year 1857 your petitioner had a dificulty which resulted in a fight with Job Eddins in which your petitioner unfortunately pulled out one of said Eddins eyes Your petitioner and the said Eddins were drunk at the time of the fight or it would not have accured — Your petitioner has since that time made all the reparation to the Said Eddins in his power by paying him in money the damages he was able to pay Since which your petitioner has been indicted in the Allen Circuit Court & which is now pending He asks an interposition of your excellencys power of pardon to be releaved from Said prosecution — If the penalty announced by law & your petitioner was able to pay it went for the benefit of the unfortunate man he would Say nothing but under the Circumstances he pays the extintion of your power in his behalf and as in duty bound &c

The undersigned Job Edins states that he is the man that the Petitioner H. C. Hancock had the difficulty with and that at the time of said difficulty both the parties were drunk and did not know what they were doing He states the he unfortunately had his eye puled out in the fight ^or hurt so it went out^ but Hancock has paid and satisfied him in a pecuniary point of view for the damage he done and satisfied me as far as he could and it is just and right for your excellency to interpose as asked in his petition

The undersigned Citizens of Allen County are acquanted with the circumstances of the difficulty between H C Hancock and Job Eddins State that in our estimation it is acase requiring relief as prayed for in the foregoing petition
