Your petitioner
Huber respectfully represents to your Ex'cy that at the Sept — (1864) term of the Boone Circuit Court he was found guilty for an indictment for suffering gameing on his premises and fined the sum of two hundred dollars:

Your petitioner says he is an old and very poor man, a foreigner by birth, and quite ignorant of the law of this country: and that he is a baker and keeps a little Bakery in Petersberg Boone Co: Ky — and that to increase his profile, he added some cigars, candies &c to his business of Baking and that several of his customers came in to his house, on several occasions and sat down to play cards, for treats &c, no money at any time haveing been bet; Your petitioner forbid them playing in his house, but on their representation, and assura-[...] that they were playing for nothing except

[...] permitted them so
[...] this gameing, and none other that your petitioner was fined: Your petitioner says he has a family entirely dependant on his exertions for support, and that he is unable to pay said fine of $200 ⁰⁰/₁₀₀ without reducing them
to almost absolute want; Wherefore in view of the premises: He humbly prays your Excellency to remit said fine or so much thereof as to you shall seem just; and he [will ever pray and in] duty bound &c

Your petitioners whose names are, hereunto subscribed, respectfully recommend that the prayer of the Petitioner Huber be granted, and that his fine be for ever remitted, as we believe the case is one, from our knoledge and acquaintance with the man requiring the exercise of executive clemency respectfully your obedient servants
