Your Petitioner Walter Brown Jr says that at the March term of Gallatin Circuit Court 1865 the Grand Jury of said County returned into court three (3) Several Indictments against him for unlawfully Gaming on the premises of W^m Landram and in the Court House on two (2) occasions your Petioner says it is true that he played for a small sum on the premises of Landram and did play twice in the court House in like manner with some Young Officers (while Soldiers were Stationed there) for a small Sum of Money now your petitioner says he is but a Boy of 18 years of age and has no Seperate Estate and is illy able to fee Lawyers to defend him and he lives in hopes his father will not find it out and as he is unable to pay the fulll fines and costs now he prays your Excellency to pardon and remit the same said indictments being numbered from one to the three and he will be ever grateful and thankful to toyour Excellency for Sheilding him from one Mr Scott who is ~~the~~perhaps the Keenest Scouter of misdemeanors in the state and who appears
to take delight in Prosecuting such cases
