The undersigned are well aware that there are regular Faro dealers in the City of Louisville, who have been engaged in the business of gameing for a considerable time whose business is known to the police of this city, and who are not reported for any violation of the laws. We also know that I V Gilbert is not a gambler by profession. But was guilty of dealing Faro for a short time. with closed doors admiting non but gentlemen and was being quiet and respectfull towards the authorities, and when required to report before the Civil tribunal of the city, did so at
Once and did not desire to Controvert the fact. But deposited the sum of $507.40 cents — as Collateral — In the event judgment was obtained, we are also satisfied that He has been delt with, unlike other men who are professional gamblers — while they are not molested or required to keep closed doors. He has been watched and reported guilty when He had not been engaged in the business, after his first arrest. Until He was again arrested, He has shown clearly to the satisfaction of the Court that in the second Charge his entire innocense — We join in asking you most respectfully to relieve him from the Cost and damages of the ~~first~~ Case now pending

Gov — I know that Gilberts Faro dealing was nothing but a freak. He was just out of business and did not undertake it as a profession — It was undertaken by him as a mere pastime He was a regular merchant on Main
Street until his engagement in Faro — He has quit finally. — Never designed engaging in it as a profession — He is an honorable gentlemen and I hope you will remit the fine. Dont consider me as a Common Signer Of Petitions — I remember the Ferry case
