Governor Bramlette

Your Petitioners would respectfully represent, that Mrs. Judy. Webster. at the September term of the Madison Circuit Court. 1863. was indicted for selling liquor to Minors, and Judgment for Fifty Dollars obtained at the March term of said Court 1865 The selling was done under the following circumstances. The regular bar keeper was absent temporarily & his place supplied by some one ignorant of the law. who gave the liquor to a minor. It also happened during a dance or ball at the "Webster House" Mrs Webster is a Lady of estimable character & moreover knows how to keep a "Hotel" Inasmuch as Mrs. Webster keeps an orderly and well regulated Hotel & the selling was done without her knowledge & permission & by the person who sold in entire ignorance of the law & consequently without any disposition to violate or evade the same Your petitioners would respectfully but urgently request that your Excellency remit so much of the fine as is within your power.
