Your petitioner Hiram Peirce states and would represent to your Excellency. that — he confessed judgment at the present term of the Court for $100.⁰⁰ for a misdemeanor That he has a considerable family and is greatly behind hand on account of the troubles of the times and having had his house in which he lived burned and much of his furniture destroyed. That while in legal contemplation he might have been found guilty yet he never intended to violate the laws of the land. or act improperly and that he has always endeavored to comply with ^the^ laws of the country — He requests your excellency to remit the fine in this instance ~~and~~ as he hopes you will regard it a fit subject for Executive Clemency
