Your Petitioner Stephen T Bryant would respectfully Represent

That at the February Term of the Rockcastle circuit Court 1865, a Judgment was rendered against him for Sixty dollars fine. upon an inditement found against him in said court, charged with Keeping a tipling house

Your Petitioner would humbly state the circumstance of the case as follows. on the day of — 1863 he happened into M^cClanseys Grocery in MtVernon. the grocery Keeper happened not to be present he was asked if any thing was Kept there to drink, upon the inquiry he steped round the Counter and sot anon a Bottle, out of which a dram was taken, for which your petitioner was find the above named sum, and Judgment rendered accordingly and execution upon said Judgment is now pressing him, and unless releived will have the fine to pay, he further states that he is a poor man and unable to pay said fine: The Judgment is appressive, that he committed the act, not Knowing he had violated the law in any particular, he therefore humbly askes the interposition of your Excellency, and remit the fine or so much thereof as is due the state — and as in duty bound will ever pray &c — Given under my hand
