To His Excellency Gov^r Thomas E Bramlette:

The undersigned jurors who tried & witnesses who testified for the plaintiff in, the case of the Commonwealth of Ky versus Joseph Conrad for keeping a tippling house at the present term fo the Harrison circuit court, state that he was found guilty under the following proof: That some time ~~last~~ in March 1864, Elijah M^cDaniel & others came to the distillery belonging to the defendant & wanted to buy a quart of apple brandy: that deft refused to sell to be drank on the premises: that after repeated importunities, defendant consented to sell & did sell M^cDaniel ^& several others each ~~a quart of~~^ a quart of apple brandy, on condition that it was to be taken off his premises to be drank, but that M^cDaniel & the others, after getting the brandy, & contrary to their agreement & the protest of the defendant, drank the same only from 5 to 10 steps from the defts distillery. Deft was fined $60. & cost. The undersigned believe that the letter of the law required the jury to find the def^t guilty; but that it is ^a^ case in which you ought to interpose & remit all that portion of the fine over which you have power. They pray your interposition to remit that portion of the fine & as in duty bound &c May 3^rd 1864
