Dear Sir

It is not often that I have been compelled to call for Executive clemency and at present I only ask for another. Enclosed please find copy of fifa from the clarke circuit court in favor of the commonwealth of Ky vs Tho^s A Beckner &c this Execution was obtained on forfeited Bail Bond of one James Atchison of this county who was a Relative of Said Beckner you can See from the Endorsement that they have paid part of the debt I Supose the Attys part
now I ask that the Ballance of this fifa be Remited for the following Reasons Beckner is an Ignorant clever good man and took atchison to the court once and thought he was then done with it and the first thing he knew Execution Issued vs them. Atchison Joined the Federal army and was for a long time prisner of of war at charlston S C and after his Exchange when on his way home died at Maysville Ky W^m H Arnett was also a soldier in the Federal army and died in prison at charlston S. C. and leaves a family of small children very poor the Beckners are illy able to pay it in Justice to their families — Please Remit this Judgment and favor
the poor and needy.
