To His Excelency Thomas. E. Bramlette
Govener of the State of Kentucky

Your Petitioners Respectfully represent to your Excelency that in the month of September last two men by the name of Shepherd Clark & Thomas Howard whilst passing through this county in a destitute condition without money or clothes Stoped at the farm home of Phinas Latham in said county & took and carried off Some clothing, one of the value of $8 the other of the value of 17 Dollars & converted them to their own use.

Said Clark & Howard ware ~~commited~~to~~Jaol~~ apprehended and tried before an examining Court and commited to Jaol, but permited to give bail each in the Sum of $300 & after remaining in Jaol some weeks your Petitioners entered as bail for Stephen Clark one of Said Prisoners, who was released from jaol and imediately afterwards entered the federal army & is now a Soldier in the 26^th Reg^t Ky vols Your Petitioner States that at the Nov term of the Muhlenburg Circuit Court Said Clark not haveing appeared in discharge of his bail, the bond was taken as forfeited and Summons issued ^against^ your Petitioners, and that at the May term of 1865 of said court Judgment was awarded against your Petitioners for the amount of Said bond & an exicution has issued on said Judgment and the Sheriff is now harrassing your Petitioners.

They state that they are poor men and if compelled to pay said Judgment will be put to great inconvenience & trouble.

Wherefore they earnestly entreat your Excelency to remit that part of the find going to the State
