To his Excellency
Thomas.E. Bramlette Governor.

Your Petitioner, Samuel F. Tomlinson would respectfully represent, that at the July Term 1865 of the Pulaski Circuit Court, he confessed a Judgment for the sum of $50, having been indicted for selling liquor to a minor --

Your Petitioner states, that John Dutten is the minor to whom he sold the liquor: That Dutten has often drank at his grocery with his father Daniel Dutten -- that John was working for himself, and has been for several years. that he is a man in size, and your petitioner states, that truthfully he did not know that he was violating any law by selling to said minor, -- if he had he would not have sold to him --

He states, that Young Dutten trades for himself, and hasd been doing business, and was at the time doing business at Camp Burnside in this County for himself --

That he traded where he pleased and with whom he pleased, and was held and recognized as a man of full age --

He states, that Young Dutten often treated ~~theson~~ his father at his grocery, and that the Father treated the son --
and that the father does not object to the son's buying liquor, as he has given him the privilege of trading &c. for himself --

Your Petitioner asks that Your Excellency will remit the fine aginst him:

We concur in the above statements and ask your Excellency to remit the fine, knowing that young Dutten has been looked on as a man & so held & treated by every body.
