To the Honorable Thomas E Bramlette Governor of the State of Kentucky Your Petitioner States that at the present August term 1865 of the Rockcastle Circuit Court -- that he was fined two hundred Dollars for permitting gaming Done in a house under his control under the following circumstances, in the year 1859 he was Indicted for permitting gaming in a house of which he had the control -- the proof was that the house was in ~~the~~ possession of his Father Lewis Butcher and occasionly this Petitioner would go to the store with the Key -- and by the Instruction of the Court -- that it did not matter who had the possession -- so the Defendant had the Key -- He then had Control -- whereupon the jury Disagreed -- and by an agreement of Parties, a majority of the Jury Brought in a verdict of Guilty and fixed his fine at two hundred Dollars -- Now your Petitioner States that he is a poor man -- and not well able to pay said fine -- whereby he prayes your Honor to remit his fine of two hundred Dollars -- as in duty bound he will ever pray
