Is charged with Desertion.

Was in a Hospital at Covington, Ky, and was arrested for a deserter in Hospital. He had gone from his command 6 weeks. Is a fine looking boy of 16.

No chrages perfered against him yet. He was in charge of Prison at Covington, Ky, and in his absence a prisoner escaped and he was arrested. He was away to draw rations, -- was doing his duty.

He had his trial in Nov. 1864. Was sentenced to 3 years hard labor. The sentance, he says, was remitted, and he was ordered to be mustered out. He has been in Prison since the 5^th of Sep^t 1864.

This man was a deserter.

He reported to P. M. At Camp Nelson on the 19^th of Apr. under the Presidents Proclamation, and was arrested, and sent here where he has been ever since. He has no charges.

Lt. W. C. Root. A. A. G. Testifinged that he did nothing more than try to discharge his duty in accordance with his orders.

He has been released once, and ordered to report beto Lexington, to be mustered out. Came and was rearrested. He had his trial five weeks since, and awaits his sentance.

Charged with Desertion

This mans case is a hard one. He was in S^t Johns Hospital, in Cincinnattai, was given clorophorm and an examination made by Dr. (His arm is witherd from the shoulder) He was let go out of the Hospital, got drunk, was taken up by the Police, and kept in Jail 30 days. When let out he reported to the Hospital. Was let out the 20^th of Feb^y 1865. On the 14^th of April Dr Tibbitts gave him a pass, and after he had him arrested for spite. The man had said the D^r was an Irishman, and someone had reported it.

Shenn was sent to this place on the 20^th of Ap^r and cannot get a trial.

The cases of the within named men are respectfully sent to His Execllency Governor Bramlette, merely to show a part of the labor I am engaged in, in behalf of Ky,, soldiers.

The within, are cases of men in prison at Lexington Ky,, In this prison, at Camp Nelson and at Louisville, there are near one hundred Ky. men.

I make all their caces out in triplicate.

I refer them to the Judge Advocate. to the Provost Marshal, and to Gen^l Palmer. Gen^l Palmer has applied for authority to pardon. If he receives it, I shall soon have these men set at liberty.
