Dear sir

By request of G K Marcum I write your relative to his case which he will represent to you correctly — I can Say to you that what he Says to you may be relied on implicitly ~~and~~ he may have done wrong in Some things and whom we look back upon the trials through which many have had to pass — I wonder that they have done no worse — Especially Should we look over many of the foibles of those that have had to Struggle from infancy to manhood as it were without Parental care and Instruction — Judge Marcum Say what they may is not a dishonest man in fact [...] the instructs of his nature are to the reverse if he has done wrong it was done as retaliation for what he conceived to be Injuries done to his freinds Politically — would not See him prosecuted further if, I could prevent for any consideration it would afford the (I had liked to have said H — ll hounds so much pleasure) if you can do any thing for him do it & I believe you can
