Your Petitioner Richard Wright humbly states, that by Judgment of the Taylor Circuit Court rendered its March Term 1864. he was find $114,, and Imprisoned in the County Jail ten months on the Trial of an Indictment for assault.

That he did not, & could not attend the trial owing to the fact ^of the troubles of the Country & guerillas &^ that his life had been threatened by bad menwhowouldhavetaken hislife, or done himgreat bodilyharm if he had attempted to attend the trial. If he could have attended the trial he could have made defense & shown his innosence. And in his absence owing to the facts above stated and the prejudicial statements of witnesses the Judgt was obtaind against him, He is a very poor man and his Eight small & helpless children depending upon his own manual labor for their only support. Wherefore he asks that he pardoned & released from the Imprisonment & that the fine be remited Except fees & cost which will be a very heavy fine on him under the circumstances.
