GENERAL COURT MARTIAL
ORDERS, No. 585.

In the case of George A. Hanaford, late Lieutenant-Colonel 124th U S. Colored Troops, sentenced by a General Court Martial "To be cashiered; and that he be confined at hard labor in such Prison as the General commanding may direct for the term of three (3) years, and further confined for the period of ten (10) years unless he refund to the Government the sum of two thousand two hundred and forty-seven dollars, ($2,247,) of which sum six hundred and thirty-three dollars ($633) is in notes; that the crime, name and place of abode, and punishment, be published in the newspapers where he formerly resided, and in the Louisville Journal." and now imprisoned in the Kentucky Penitentiary, at Frankfort, Kentucky, as promulgated in General Court Martial Orders, No. 94, dated Headquarters, Department of Kentucky, Louisville, Kentucky, September 7, 1865, upon the recommendation of the Judge Advocate General, based upon the insufficiency and unreliable character of the evidence, the President of the United States is pleased to pardon Lieutenant-Colonel Hanaford, and restore him to his former rank and position in the service.

He will be released from confinement.
