To his Excellency the Govenor of Kentucky

The undersigned citizens of Madison county Ky represent unto your excellency that William Logston & James F M Coyle were this day fined twenty dollars each by John W. Harcourt a justice of the peace in and for Madison county for a breech of the peace in the town of Richmond

The evidence did not show that any injury had been done to any person The parties have the character of peaceabley orderly men and good citizens and accidentally became intoxicated

Logston has very lately returned from several years service in the federal army ^(4^th Ky I V)^ The parties are poor and we believe will not transgress in a similar manner any more

We therefore earnestly petition your excellency to remit the whole of the fine against each of the parties. November 1^st 1865
