My friend Thomas K Letcher visits you in reference to a forfeited bail bond in the case of Comlth against Charles Rogers pending in the Garrard Circuit Court —

The bond and Judgment is for $200⁰⁰. Mr Letcher in connexion with two other parties who are now in solvent went Rogger's bail and the whole matter falls on Letcher At the time the draft was pending in Kentucky and Roggers promising to Join the Army, which he did, Letcher went his bail. Roggers joined th Army, failed to appear and the bond was forfeited — Roggers was poor had no friends could give no bail and it was a humanity
on the part of Mr. Letcher and under the circumstances think — the case a proper one for Executive Clemency — Mr L will explain the facts more fully to you —
