To his Excellency Gov^r Bramlette

Your petitioner the undersigned, says that in the year 1860, at the Oil Springs in Clark County Ky. he was engaged with ^others^ in a game of Cards, at 5 cents a game for amusement; and with no intention to wilfully violate law. That he is no Gambler, nor never was. That he went into Court and confessed guilty and a fine of Twenty dollars was imposed; and which was respited by your predecessor. That he has not violated the ~~Gaming~~ Statute against Gambling since. That he would not trouble your Excellency in the matter, but for his sincere abstinence since from like indulgence, and want of means. He prays your Excellency to extend clemency in his case
