Dear Sir:

Whereas Charles Morehead, Justice of the peace for Muhlenburg county, in district N^o 1 departed this life on the 4^th day April 1864, whereby his office was made vacant; and there being a great deal of business before him, as Justice of the peace, which ought to be attended to at once, therefore we the undersigned petition your Excellency to appoint Mr. John Clark who resides within said district, and who is, in every way, worthy and well qualified to fill said vacancy.
