Dear Govenor,

I desire very much to have Mr. E. C. Webb of this place appointed a Notary Public for Marion County. Mr Webb is a clerk in my office & it being absolutely necessary for the prosecution of my work that I have a Notary constantly at hand for the discharge of certain duties, it is not desired that he interfere with the business of any other Notary, but simply to administer such oaths & make such protests as are necessary for our office. If you will confer upon ^me^ this favour I shall feel under great obligation to you.
