The Governor of Kentucky,
Sir:

I most respectfully beg leave to apply for the re-appointment as Commissioner of Deeds for your State.

I have held the offices as Magistate, Mayor of the City, Notary Public and Commissioner of Deeds for all the States in the Union, for more than ten years prior to the late War and am well familiar with the laws and the different forms.

The State of Mississippi, having returned amonst the States of the Union, and Civil law being restored, I desire to act again for your State, should you be pleased to honor me with the appointment

I pledge myself, to fill the office to the best of my abilities, and so that I will do credit to myself and your Excellency's appointment.
