I write you at the request of Geo. W. Thompson of Rockville Ind^a who wishes an appointment from you as Commissioner to take the acknowledgment of Deeds &c for the state of Kentucky. M^r Thompson is a most Excellent gentleman, clerk of the circuit Court of his County, and is a brother of the Hon R W Thompson of this city. His term of office as clerk is about to Expire and I believe he wishes to go into the law and Real Estate Business.

I desire to obtain this appointment for him and will Esteem your attention to it as a personal favor to myself. Your secretary of state will please indicate his fee on the Commission or otherwise
and it will be forwarded immediately.
