In response to a notice recd from the State Department of Kentucky — [pp] the assistant Secy of State. Mr Tate If I am correct w his name, I remitted the fee of 5.⁰⁰ on the renewal of my appointment as a commissioner for said State The money was mailed at AlbanyApril 17.^h. 1861 — by me, and I have not been able to get any answer to several of my letters addressed to the Asst Secy of State.

I have the Receipt on Registering said Letter. as no. 71 & I will thank you to have this matter attended to by your officers
