Your favor of the 8^th was received on 13^th Inst: and that of the 24^th this day —

Be pleased to excuse the apparent neglect of your first letter — it has been only apparant since 23^d Ulto. I have been engaged in preparing for and trying an important case which was concluded only on Monday 27^th Inst: — and which has occupied my whole time and attention —

I would like to have my Commission renewed and send herewith the State Tax of Five dollars —
